LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Kemi Omotosho has emerged as the new Chief Executive Officer of MultiChoice Nigeria, marking a major leadership shift for one of Africa’s biggest entertainment companies as it positions itself for the future of pay television, streaming and local content.
The company, a subsidiary of Canal+, confirmed that Ugbe will retire in January 2026, handing over leadership to Kemi Omotosho, a seasoned media and digital executive with deep experience across Africa’s entertainment and technology landscape.
After nearly 15 years of steering the company through sweeping changes in the broadcast industry, Ugbe’s tenure was defined by periods of market disruption and evolving consumer habits, during which he strengthened MultiChoice Nigeria’s operational base and prepared the business for long-term resilience in a highly competitive entertainment landscape.
In stepping into the role, Omotosho brings more than two decades of leadership experience across media, telecommunications and digital businesses in Nigeria and across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Within the MultiChoice Group, she has held several senior leadership positions, including Executive Head of Customer Value Management in Nigeria and Group Executive Head of Customer Value Management for Rest of Africa, providing functional oversight across more than 50 markets.
Before her appointment, she served as Regional Director for Southern Africa, where she managed a seven-country portfolio with full profit-and-loss responsibility, further sharpening her experience in multi-market entertainment operations.
MultiChoice described Omotosho as a seasoned executive with a strong track record in managing complex organizations, driving disciplined growth and building high-performing teams. She will now be responsible for leading the company’s strategy, operations and stakeholder engagement in Nigeria, building on the foundation laid by her predecessor.
Commenting on her appointment, Omotosho said it was “an honour to be entrusted with the leadership of MultiChoice Nigeria at a critical time for the business,” describing Nigeria as one of the group’s most strategic and dynamic markets.
She said her focus would be on working closely with teams and partners to “strengthen customer relationships, promote local storytelling and the creative economy, and build a future-ready organisation that delivers sustainable value.”
MultiChoice said the leadership transition followed a structured succession process designed to ensure continuity and stability, signalling confidence that Omotosho’s appointment will support the company’s next phase of growth within Nigeria’s fast-evolving entertainment industry.
