LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)-Nigerian music stars delivered a dominant showing at the 9th All Africa Music Awards held in Lagos on Sunday night, walking away with the biggest honours and reaffirming the country’s influence on the continental soundscape.
At the centre of the celebration was Rema, who emerged as the night’s standout act after clinching three major awards.
The global Afrobeats star won Artiste of the Year, Best Male Artiste in Western Africa, and Best African Artiste in RnB and Soul, making him one of Africa’s most versatile and commercially successful performers.

Equally commanding was Burna Boy, whose album ‘No Sign of Weakness’ earned him Album of the Year. The Grammy-winning singer also picked up Best African Collaboration, a shared win with Shallipopi. The latter enjoyed his own moment in the spotlight after his hit track Laho secured Song of the Year.

Meanwhile, Yemi Alade expanded her accolades beyond the music charts, winning Best Soundtrack in a Movie, Series or Documentary for You Are, a song featured in the animated series Iyanu.

In other major categories, indigenous rap star Phyno claimed Best African Artiste in African Hip-Hop, reinforcing his longevity in the genre, while Tanzania’s Juma Jux stood out outside Nigeria with a win for Best Male Artiste in Eastern Africa.

The awards also spotlighted rising talent. Qing Madi, the ‘Olé’ crooner was named Most Promising Artiste of the Year, reflecting her fast-rising profile.

Fast-rising singer Chella who gained popularity for his 2024 single, “Nyash na Nyash” earned African Fans’ Favourite, underscoring strong grassroots support across the continent.

Overall, the Lagos ceremony underscored Nigeria’s continued dominance at AFRIMA, with established stars and emerging acts alike shaping the future of African music on a global stage.
