LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)-Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has been arrested by the police following a dispute involving his baby mama, actress Ashabi Simple.
The arrest comes days after the musician reportedly evaded an earlier attempt to take him into custody.
According to reports, Portable was arrested on Saturday, one week after Ashabi Simple and her siblings filed a police complaint accusing him of assault. The initial arrest attempt last week was unsuccessful, allowing the singer to temporarily avoid police custody.

However, the situation escalated on Sunday evening when a video surfaced on social media showing Portable in handcuffs, visibly distressed and crying, as he resisted and was forcefully led out of a shop.
In another viral clip, the singer alleged that he had been tortured while in police custody, asking his fans for help.
The footage quickly triggered public outrage, with many Nigerians condemning the police and accusing them of using excessive force.
Social media users called for accountability, while others debated the circumstances surrounding the singer’s arrest and treatment.
With the video continuing to circulate online, along with earlier posts by the artiste begging God to save him so he can stay alive and care for his family, the incident has once again placed Portable at the center of controversy.
“God save me, don’t let me die young because of my wife and my kids. God don’t let them suffer,” Portable wrote.
