LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nollywood star Yewande Adekoya has revisited one of the most painful chapters of her life, opening up about a miscarriage she suffered in 2013 and the spiritual awakening that followed the ordeal.
Speaking in an emotional video shared on her verified Instagram page, the actress and filmmaker detailed how her first pregnancy took a tragic turn after she began bleeding heavily and was rushed to the hospital.
“A few years ago, I remember it was 2013. I was pregnant at the time. After some months, I started to bleed, so I was rushed to the hospital. I knew I was miscarrying, like I was about losing the baby,” she said.

Doctors later confirmed the pregnancy could not be saved and informed her that a surgical evacuation would be necessary. The news, Adekoya revealed, plunged her into fear and heartbreak, intensified by what she had heard about the pain associated with the procedure.
“They told me the baby had died and we needed to do an evacuation. I had been told that evacuation was very painful. I was so sad that I’d lost my baby. I was in serious pain. I cried all through the night,” she recalled.
The emotional weight of the loss was compounded by anxiety over the impending procedure, particularly because it was her first time pregnant. After receiving medication, the actress said she fell asleep and experienced what she described as a striking dream involving a man dressed in white, whom she perceived as a doctor.
“I was also afraid of the evacuation process that was going to be done for me in the morning. If this whole miscarriage process is this painful, how would evacuation be? In my dream, a man came to me. He was wearing white. He was dressed like a doctor. And then he came to me and said, ‘It is time.’ I said, ‘For what?’ He said, ‘For your evacuation process,’” Adekoya narrated.
She explained that the procedure was completed in the dream, and she woke shortly afterward feeling an intense physical sensation. According to Adekoya, she managed to get to the bathroom, where the miscarriage resolved itself without medical intervention.

“As soon as I sat up in bed, I felt a heavy push in my bowel. I felt like something was coming through…I got into the bathroom and stood at the centre of the bathroom, the baby that died fell to the ground. Blood, formation, whatever. It fell to the ground,” she stated.
Medical staff later examined her and confirmed that no further procedure was required. Looking back, Adekoya said the experience profoundly shaped her spiritual outlook and strengthened her belief in divine intervention.
“When the doctors came, they did a scan, and they said there would be no need for an evacuation because the baby was no longer there… So I asked him, can you confidently say there is no God? In my dream, somebody performed an evacuation process on me, and I woke up, and the baby came out itself without any pain,” she said.
Therefore, the actress stated that her faith is rooted in trust rather than full understanding. She concluded by saying her life experiences have made disbelief impossible, describing her faith as grounded in what she considers extraordinary encounters.
“Tell me God is not kind. His ways might not be our way. Sometimes we don’t understand how he moves, but it’s not our business to understand how God moves. It’s our business to trust that he knows best. I cannot come out and say there is no God because I have experienced a lot of things that I know are not ordinary. There is God, and He is faithful,” Adekoya stated.
