LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA) – United Nigeria Airlines has issued a formal apology to actress Bolaji Ogunmola over a disrupted Ekiti–Lagos flight that affected her work commitments.
The actress sparked the conversation on Thursday when she revealed that prolonged delays left her stranded in Ekiti, jeopardising her return to Lagos for a film shoot. The setback, she noted, resulted in professional complications and financial losses, prompting widespread reactions from fans and industry observers.
In response, United Nigeria Airlines clarified that the affected flight, UN0623 scheduled for January 7, 2026, was cancelled due to unscheduled aircraft maintenance. According to the airline, passengers received timely notifications through email and text messages once the issue was identified.

Providing further insight, the airline’s Public Relations Officer, Chibuike Uloka, explained that the flight was reinstated the following day, January 8, 2026, despite the Ekiti–Lagos route not being part of the airline’s original operations for that date.
He stressed that the decision was made in line with NCAA Consumer Protection Regulations, underscoring the company’s emphasis on passenger welfare.
“We fully recognise the impact that flight delays and cancellations have on our passengers, particularly when they interfere with significant personal and professional commitments. We deeply regret that Ms. Ogunmola and other passengers were affected. We remain steadfast in our commitment to safety, operational excellence, and exceptional customer service, and we value passenger feedback as we continually work to improve our service delivery,” Uloka said.
The airline reiterated that safety remains non-negotiable while assuring customers of ongoing efforts to enhance reliability across its routes.
