ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)– The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has suspended its Caretaker Committee Chairman, Dr Nname Robinson Ewor, over allegations of aligning with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The party announced that Ewor was suspended both as Caretaker Chairman and as a member of the PDP, citing actions it said were capable of destroying the party in the oil-rich state.
Ewor had recently accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of deceiving party leaders and supporters during the political crisis that engulfed the state.
According to him, the governor falsely created the impression that he could wrest political control from Wike, only to abandon the party at the height of the turmoil.
He further alleged that party stakeholders were misled into believing that Fubara was prepared for a political showdown with Wike, adding that party leaders were left stranded “in the middle of a political sea” when the governor defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in December 2025.
Ewor was also recently spotted with Wike during one of the FCT minister’s ongoing “thank you” visits to local government areas in Rivers State, a development that reportedly worsened tensions within the party.

Following his suspension, the Secretary of the PDP Caretaker Committee in the state, Chief Ogbam Ojimah, assumed office as Acting Chairman.
Ojimah disclosed this after an emergency meeting of the Caretaker Committee held in Port Harcourt on Saturday, January 3, 2026.
He pledged loyalty to the Turaki-led national leadership of the PDP and reiterated that Wike remained expelled from the party.
He said Ewor had effectively relinquished his position by associating with Wike, who, according to the party, no longer had any standing within the PDP.
Ojimah emphasised that the FCT minister had no right to interfere in the affairs of the party in Rivers State, adding that the chapter had distanced itself from all activities and recent public statements attributed to Ewor.
He stated, “The Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, Rivers State Chapter, after our meeting here today, the 3rd of January, 2026, hereby resolved as follows: that we disassociate ourselves from the press statement and public utterances credited to Dr Nname Robinson Ewor, the former Chairman.
“That it is important to re-emphasise and remind the general public that Hon. Nyesom Wike has already been expelled from our party and therefore has no right to interfere in the affairs of the PDP.
“That Dr Nname Robinson Ewor, by his actions and speeches, has voluntarily resigned and relieved himself of the position of Caretaker Chairman of the PDP, Rivers State; and that the Caretaker Committee hereby formally suspends Dr Nname Robinson Ewor as Chairman and member of the Caretaker Committee of the PDP, Rivers State. Hence, nobody should deal with him in that capacity.
“That the Caretaker Committee of the PDP, Rivers State, hereby resolves and unanimously appoints the Secretary, Chief Ogbam Ojimah, as the Acting Chairman, and Dr Baribefu Fidunko as the Acting Secretary of the PDP, Rivers State.
“That we remain committed and focused on repositioning our party for competitive electioneering and service to the people under the leadership of Dr Kabiru Turaki, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party.”
