AFCON Round Of 16: Super Eagles Face Mozambique In Fès

OGUN, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The knockout stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations is set, with Nigeria scheduled to battle Mozambique in a high-stakes round of 16 encounter.

After dominating Group C with a perfect nine points, the Super Eagles will face the “Mambas” on Monday, January 5, 2026. The match will take place at the Complexe Sportif de Fès, a venue where Nigeria has already enjoyed significant success during the group phase.

The winner of this tie will advance to the quarter-finals to face either Algeria or DR Congo.

Mozambique secured third place in the group after Cameroon narrowly edged them 2-1, while Ivory Coast topped the group after a dramatic 3-2 comeback win against Gabon, confirming Nigeria’s opponent for the knockout stage.

The Super Eagles booked their place in the last 16 by finishing top of Group C with six points from three matches, thanks to victories over Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda.

Time for the match is set for 8pm Nigeria time.
