ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed strong confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure re-election in the 2027 presidential contest, dismissing emerging opposition coalitions as politically ineffective.
Senior party leaders said Tinubu’s record in office, coupled with the APC’s nationwide structure, positions the ruling party for another electoral victory.
Reacting to recent political realignments, the APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, described opposition figures rallying under new platforms as inconsistent politicians with no credible alternative agenda.
According to Basiru, President Tinubu has demonstrated leadership through far-reaching economic and fiscal reforms, insisting that the administration’s policies would yield long-term national benefits.

“These alignments do not worry us. President Tinubu defeated them before, and he will defeat them again in 2027,” Basiru said in an interview.
The party also dismissed claims that Nigeria was drifting toward one-party dominance, maintaining that the APC remains a pan-Nigerian platform with strong grassroots presence across all geopolitical zones.
Meanwhile, the Presidency took a swipe at former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, questioning his leadership credentials and political consistency.
The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, argued that Obi lacked the experience and capacity required to govern Nigeria, contrasting this with what he described as Tinubu’s decisive economic reforms since May 2023.
Onanuga cited the removal of fuel subsidy, tax harmonisation efforts, infrastructure expansion and economic diversification as evidence of purposeful governance under Tinubu.
He maintained that the President’s reforms had begun stabilising the economy, strengthening foreign reserves and restoring investor confidence.
The APC insisted that opposition rhetoric would not distract the administration, stressing that the ruling party remains focused on governance while preparing for another electoral contest in 2027.
