NNPCL Set For Next Phase Of AKK Gas Pipeline In 2026

ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-The management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) has announced that it is prepared to move to the next phase of the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) gas pipeline project in 2026.

The NNPCL Group Chief Executive Officer, Bashir Ojulari, said the upcoming phase will involve connecting the project’s mainline, which is expected to supply gas to power industries across the northern parts of the country.

Ojulari disclosed this after briefing President Bola Tinubu in Lagos on the corporation’s end-of-year 2025 performance and its strategic priorities for 2026.

He said that “through the inspiration and support of the President, the NNPCL has recorded improvement in crude oil production from one-point-five million barrel per day in 2024 to over one-point-seven million barrel per day.”

According to him, gas production is now over seven million standard cubic feet per day,an improvement from the six-point-five million standard cubic feet per day recorded in 2024.

The President reiterated his expectation to improve oil production to two million barrel per day by 2027.
