ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- President Bola Tinubu has directed Nigeria’s security agencies to heighten surveillance and intensify operations across Borno State following a deadly bomb attack on a mosque in Gamboru Market, Maiduguri.
Vice-President Kashim Shettima disclosed this on Thursday, announcing the deployment of additional tactical units to track down those behind the attack, which claimed five lives and left several others injured.
Condemning the incident, Shettima described the bombing as a reprehensible act aimed at disrupting public peace and targeting innocent worshippers.
According to him, the President has ordered a coordinated security response involving federal, state, and local agencies to prevent further attacks and secure vulnerable communities, particularly in the North-East.

“The Federal Government will not tolerate any act intended to destabilise the country or endanger citizens,” Shettima said, adding that security personnel have been placed on high alert to ensure the swift arrest and prosecution of those responsible.
He noted that intelligence-led operations are underway, expressing confidence that the existing security framework would not only apprehend the perpetrators but also uncover the full circumstances surrounding the attack.
The Vice-President also conveyed the Federal Government’s condolences to the Borno State Government and families affected by the incident, assuring them that justice would be served.
Reaffirming the administration’s stance, Shettima said the Tinubu-led government remains resolute in fulfilling its constitutional duty to protect lives, property, and national stability.
He stressed that security agencies would continue to receive the necessary logistical and operational support to confront terrorism and other threats to peace across the country.
