LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Eleven boys, aged seven to fifteen who were rescued from human trafficking have safely returned to their families in Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

Their rescue followed a coordinated operation by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

The handover ceremony, held in Dutse, marked the culmination of efforts that began with the victims rescue in Lokoja, Kogi State. NAPTIP Commander in Jigawa, Abdulkadir Turajo, represented at the event by Head of Operations Yunusa Mohammed, confirmed that the children hail from Tsaba, Kunkurawa, and Tsabare villages in Ringim Local Government Area.

Turajo praised the swift collaboration between NAPTIP, the Jigawa State Ministry for Local Government and Community Development, and the Ringim council, emphasizing that prompt action enabled the smooth reintegration of the boys into their communities.

“Our commitment to combating human trafficking remains unwavering through identification, rescue, and reunification of victims across the country,” he stated.

Receiving the rescued children, Ringim Local Government Chairman Badamasi Garba, represented by Director of Personnel Management Idana Isah, expressed gratitude to NAPTIP. He also reaffirmed the council’s dedication to ensuring effective rehabilitation for the victims and implementing preventive measures against future trafficking incidents.

The operation underscores ongoing efforts to protect vulnerable children from exploitation, highlighting the importance of coordinated interventions between federal agencies and local authorities.
