LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)-American comedian and actress Amy Schumer has revealed she and husband Chris Fischer are ending their marriage after seven years.
The announcement came in a candid Instagram post on Amy’s page, accompanied by a subway photo of the couple. Schumer emphasized that the split was amicable, saying, “Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever.”
She added that they will continue to focus on raising their six-year-old son.
“Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years. We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son,” Schumer wrote, injecting her signature humor into the announcement.
She joked that the split was not “because I dropped some lbs” or because Fischer is an “award-winning chef who can still pull some hot tail.”

Fischer, is a celebrated James Beard Award-winning chef recognized for his 2015 Beetlebung Farm Cookbook: A Year of Cooking on Martha’s Vineyard. The couple married in February 2018 and welcomed their son, Gene, in May 2019.
During the Covid pandemic, they appeared together on the Food Network reality series Amy Schumer Learns to Cook and in the documentary series Expecting Amy, which chronicled Schumer’s pregnancy struggles, including her experience with endometriosis.
Following the divorce announcement, friends and fellow celebrities quickly showed support online.
Fans speculate that the split may be linked to Schumer’s drive to return to a high-octane career after years focused on motherhood. At the height of her fame with Trainwreck, Schumer was an A-lister, but momentum slowed following her marriage and the birth of her son.
Despite the end of their marriage, Schumer and Fischer appear committed to maintaining a supportive family dynamic for their child while continuing to respect each other’s personal and professional pursuits.
