LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nine-year-old content creator Brielle “Brie” Bird, whose courageous fight with stage-four cancer inspired nearly a million followers online, has died at the age of 9.
Her passing was announced by family via Instagram with a tribute that has since drawn widespread attention.
“You are the miracle! Your purpose on earth was fulfilled, and it was the most sacred privilege to escort you home. You brought people to Christ, you showed the world that God is good, and your light shined to all corners of the earth,” the post read.
In the same message, Brie’s loved ones spoke directly to her, promising to keep her memory alive in everyday moments. They wrote that they would look for her in dragonflies and invited her to visit often, adding, “We will never stop sharing your story.”

Reflecting on their grief and faith, the family added, “You did everything with grace. I can only imagine the incredible union and I’m so jealous but I don’t know you ran straight to Jesus.”
Brie was first diagnosed with stage-four neuroblastoma in 2020. Her family openly documented the journey, building a supportive online community around her courage. At the time of diagnosis, her mother, Kendra, revealed that doctors discovered an eight-centimeter tumor in Brie’s abdomen and that the cancer had spread to her back.
Two years later, the family shared hopeful news when Brie was declared cancer-free in 2022. However, that relief was short-lived. In January 2024, the cancer returned aggressively.
By July 2025, Kendra told followers that Brie had chosen to stop treatment and entered hospice care. Despite the setback, Brie’s family continued to share intimate moments from that period, including reflections on what they described as “the small decline every day.”
Amid the sorrow, moments of joy still surfaced. One of the most touching came when Brie received a “Wicked”-themed surprise package from her “favorite person in the whole wide world,” pop star Ariana Grande.
Brie’s passing has prompted an outpouring of tributes from fans and supporters who followed her story over the years. Though her life was brief, her happy chatter and faith left a lasting mark on the millions who watched her journey unfold online.
