LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)-Fashion designer Veekee James in a recent interview insisted that her husband, Femi Atere, is strictly not permitted to have a female best friend.
In a sit down with VJ Adams on his Off the Top podcast, the celebrity stylist maintained that Femi had no business being close friends with another woman since she is the closest woman to him.
Veekee stressed that the rule was created to preserve peace in their home.
She acknowledged that other couples may operate differently, but for her marriage, the standard is non-negotiable.

“A man can have a female best friend but my man, Femi Atere, can never have a female best friend, I’m his only best friend. My brother can have a bestie if his wife allows it but my husband can never have a female bestie,” she stated.
Moving deeper into personal territory, James also addressed the harsh criticism she has faced online. She revealed that when some commenters accused her of taking Femi from another woman, her mental health suffered deeply and it affected the early stages of their relationship.
The couple, who got engaged in late 2023, tied the knot on February 10, 2024. Despite the scrutiny, James continues to speak openly about her marriage values, hoping to inspire healthier boundaries for others navigating love in the public eye.
