The Charlie Marie Group of Schools held its 12th annual Christmas party over the weekend. It was a colourful celebration marked by awards, performances, and a strong community spirit.
The event, themed “Love”, emphasised self-love, love for God, family, and humanity, reflecting the values the school instilled in its pupils.
The celebration featured a visit from “Santa Claus,” who danced with, and presented gifts to every child, while special awards were reserved for individuals who excelled during the year 2025.
One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of awards to the school’s outstanding teachers.
At the college level, Mrs. Abidemi Olatunji received the Teacher of the Year Award.
In the primary section, Miss. Favour Okobah, an alumna of Charlie Marie who has continued to advance her education, earned the same honour, taking over from Mrs. Zainab Kareem, who previously held the award for three consecutive years.
As part of the recognition, the pictures of the award recipients will be displayed prominently within the school throughout 2026 until new honourees emerge.
The school also introduced a unique category—the Couple of the Year Award—which was presented to Mr. Yemi and Mrs. Omolola Iyowu in appreciation of their exemplary mentoring and role model character and support and dilligent involvement in school activities.

Addressing the audience, founder, and proprietress of the school, Evangelist Adekunbi Akin-Taylor expressed pride in the pupils’ achievements and reaffirmed the school’s commitment to nurturing future leaders. “Children, you are doing very well. Your star will shine for the whole world to see. We are working hard to build champions and secure a brighter future for every child,” she said.
Parents were also commended for their support and encouraged to maintain unity and partnership with the school’s vision and mission.
Akin-Taylor noted the encouraging harmonious turnout of both Christian and Muslim parents, describing it as a reflection of the school’s inclusive values.
“If the school is saying one thing and the parents are saying another, there will be conflict. We appreciate your cooperation over the years,” she added.
To the teachers, she offered words of appreciation and motivation, urging them to continue striving for excellence.
“Nobody is perfect, but we want you to be the best of the best. They say a teacher’s reward is in heaven, but even here on earth, a teacher can be rewarded because God loves those who work with children,” she said.
The festive event concluded on a joyful note as families, teachers, and students danced, partied and celebrated together, reinforcing the sense of community that has become the hallmark of the Charlie Marie Group of Schools’ annual Christmas tradition.
