LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Singer Ckay has scored a career-defining victory after Love Nwantiti (Ah Ah Ah) crossed the 1-billion-stream mark on Spotify, becoming the first Nigerian solo track to achieve the feat.
The milestone elevates him into a select tier of African artists pushing the boundaries of global streaming records.
The singer shared his gratitude with fans in a celebratory post on X, writing, “First solo Nigerian song to cross 1 billion streams. Grateful to God and the people involved in this historic success! thank you for streaming.”

His message highlights the long journey the song has taken since its quiet release in 2019.
Propelled by viral moments, international remixes featuring Joeboy, Kuami Eugene, and Elgrande Toto, plus a wave of global playlists, the track eventually surged onto the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 26.

Its worldwide traction later pushed it to No. 1 in markets such as Norway and India, solidifying its status as one of Afrobeats’ most far-reaching exports.
Ckay’s accomplishment follows other barrier-breaking moments across the continent. Wizkid paved the way when his feature on Drake’s ‘One Dance’ entered the billion-stream club in 2017. Rema also became the first African lead act to surpass the mark through the remix of ‘Calm Down’ with Selena Gomez, while Tyla made history for African women with the runaway success of ‘Water’.
