ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Enugu State Police Command has arrested, arraigned and secured the remand of a 51-year-old neighbourhood security operative, Emeka Emmanuel Nwangwu, for the alleged murder of his 19-year-old female cousin, Loveth Uloma Nwangwu, in Nsukka.
Police spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, said in a statement on Wednesday that detectives acted on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, following Nwangwu’s arrest on 1 December 2025.
The suspect was taken into custody after allegedly assaulting the victim, inflicting injuries that led to her death.

According to the police, the Commissioner directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (State CID) to carry out a thorough investigation and ensure the matter was promptly charged to court.
After concluding the investigation, operatives arraigned the suspect on Wednesday before an Enugu State Magistrate Court on a one-count charge of murder.
The court ordered his remand and directed that the case file be forwarded to the Ministry of Justice through the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) for review and legal advice.
CP Giwa extended condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, assuring them that justice is underway with the completion of the investigation and the arraignment and remand of the suspect.
