ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has issued comprehensive instructions for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination registration, along with a list of common difficulties candidates might face.
The update, posted on JAMB’s official X handle on Sunday, is intended to guide prospective applicants as they prepare for the registration exercise.
Registration Procedure
According to JAMB, “Candidates should ensure their personal details, including National Identification Number (NIN), email, and A-Level results, are accurate before generating a profile code.”
Candidates are instructed to send their 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 (e.g., NIN 00000011111 to 55019/66019).
Once the profile code has been created, it becomes permanent, and all biodata is automatically pulled from NIMC.

Candidates must then visit the nearest JAMB office or an accredited CBT Centre to complete their registration.
E-PINs should only be purchased through authorised outlets such as banks, approved online platforms, or verified vendors within registration centres.
Before final submission, candidates must ensure the correct registration template is used and that all information entered is accurate.
JAMB stressed that incorrect or inconsistent details may result in avoidable complications.
Important Tips
Candidates are advised to make any necessary corrections with NIMC ahead of time and confirm that the updates (e.g., Name, Date of Birth, Gender, State of Origin) reflect on their NIMC portal before they begin registration.
GSM numbers and email addresses serve as unique identifiers; they cannot be transferred, altered, or shared, and must be active before starting the process.
Anyone experiencing biometric challenges during registration should report directly to the nearest JAMB office, as CBT centres are not permitted to forcefully register any candidate.
Candidates must also ensure a dual screen is used during registration and verify that their passport photograph and biometrics have been properly captured.
Common Challenges
The board outlined several issues candidates frequently encounter during profile code generation:
“Error 550/66019: Indicates an incorrectly formatted request; candidates should use the correct command (e.g., NIN 00000011111 to 55019/66019).”
“Number Already Registered: Suggests the phone number is linked to another profile; candidates should retrieve the SIM card or use a new number.”
“Unable to Verify NIN: Candidates are advised to wait and retry later.”
The sale of the JAMB 2026 UTME form will begin on Friday, January 31st, 2026, and end on Saturday, March 8th, 2026.
