ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-Dangote Group has entered a strategic partnership with Honeywell International Inc to scale up operations at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, with the facility expected to hit 1.4 million barrels per day processing capacity by 2028.

The group, in a statement on Tuesday, said the agreement will see Honeywell deploy advanced technology, specialised catalysts and critical equipment to expand the refinery’s ability to process a wider range of crude grades and improve overall output quality.

Honeywell, a Fortune 100 industrial and technology giant, offers solutions spanning aviation, automotive, industrial automation and advanced materials.

Its UOP division has worked with Dangote since 2017, supplying proprietary refining systems, catalyst regeneration equipment, high-performance column trays and heat-exchange technologies.

Dangote is also strengthening its petrochemical presence, with plans to raise polypropylene production to 2.4 million metric tons annually through Honeywell’s Oleflex technology.

Polypropylene is widely used in packaging, manufacturing and automotive applications.

In the fertiliser segment, the group said it is pushing ahead with the next phase of its expansion plan, aiming to increase urea production capacity from 3 million metric tons to 9 million metric tons annually.

The current plant has two trains of 1.5 million metric tons each, while the planned expansion will add four new trains to serve growing demand across Africa and global markets.

Dangote Group said it remains committed to delivering world-class industrial capacity, boosting Nigeria’s energy security and driving sustainable economic growth through long-term investments and strategic global partnerships.
