ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a man in the Ilaro area of Yewa South Local Government for allegedly transporting the body of his wife on a motorcycle.
The suspect was stopped during a routine check by police officers, who discovered a sack tied to the back of his motorcycle.
Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola said in a statement released in Abeokuta that the stop-and-search operation led officers to uncover what appeared to be a murder case.
According to the statement, the Divisional Police Officer in Ilaro received a tipoff around 1:05 p.m. on Wednesday that a man identified as Godonu Lowe was attempting to leave his community with the remains of an unidentified woman.
Officers intercepted him, and upon opening the sack, found the corpse of an adult woman, later confirmed to be his wife.

Police noted signs of violence on the body, including bleeding around the neck.
A blood-stained cutlass was reportedly recovered at the scene.
The suspect was immediately taken into custody, while the woman’s body was moved to the State Morgue in Ilaro for autopsy.
Commissioner of Police Lanre Ogunlowo commended the individual who provided the initial tipoff and urged residents to continue sharing timely information that could assist in preventing and detecting crimes.
