ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Tension rose in parts of Kwara on Wednesday as angry youths shut down the Kwara-Kogi highway to protest a violent attack on Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area.
The blockade followed a bandit invasion during a church programme that left two worshippers dead and several people abducted.
Videos shared online showed residents piling debris and makeshift barricades across the major road, stopping all movement.
In the clip, a narrator warned travellers to avoid the route, saying the community was still reeling from the previous night’s assault.
“This is Eruku right now,” the voice warned. “People are furious over what happened yesterday, and no one is taking this lightly.”

According to police spokesperson Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, officers, assisted by vigilantes, rushed to the scene after sporadic gunfire was reported from the outskirts of the community.
She confirmed that gunmen armed with sophisticated weapons disrupted the service and opened fire before abducting multiple victims.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in a statement issued by his chief press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, condemned the incident as “unconscionable” and appealed to President Bola Tinubu to deploy more security personnel to the area.
“The governor has already asked for immediate reinforcement of security operatives to strengthen the current structure in that axis. He wants the deployment effected without delay,” the statement read.
Mr AbdulRazaq expressed sympathy to the families of those killed and kidnapped, assuring residents that the state government would continue to support security agencies in restoring calm and protecting communities across Kwara.
