ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate in the November 8 Anambra State election, Chioma Ifemeludike, has declared herself a winner despite polling 292 votes, according to results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
INEC had earlier declared the incumbent governor, Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), as the winner of the election with 422,664 votes, while Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) finished second with 99,445 votes.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Ifemeludike expressed gratitude and optimism, describing her modest tally as a symbolic victory anchored on truth and integrity rather than political influence.

She wrote “Integrity stands firm and higher than political deception. I’m a winner!”
The AAC candidate, who attracted notable attention during the campaign period through her unconventional photos and videos, said she was proud of her performance, emphasizing that her campaign was free from corruption or electoral malpractice.
Ifemeludike maintained that her participation in the election demonstrated that sincerity, courage, and clean politics could still thrive in Nigeria’s political environment, even when smaller parties compete against the might of dominant ones.
“I’m satisfied with how far we have come. This campaign showed that politics can still be done with honesty and conviction,” she stated.
The actress-turned-politician added that, for her, leadership was not about vote counts but about standing for principles that inspire integrity and hope among the people.
Her statement has since drawn reactions online, with many commending her for her courage and moral stance in a contest largely dominated by established political structures.
