LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nigerian music star Omah Lay has broken his silence on his first-ever Grammy nomination, revealing a mix of excitement and indifference toward the global accolade.
The “Soso” crooner earned his maiden Grammy nod for his collaboration with Davido on “With You”, nominated in the Best African Music Performance category at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards, set for February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
Taking to Instagram, Omah Lay admitted he was thrilled by the recognition but confessed that awards have never defined his artistry. What truly matters to him, he said, is seeing his friend Davido, whom he called his “realest friend in a while” take home the win.

“I’m excited about this Grammy nomination haha but fr fr I don’t give a sh!t about awards. Yeah but I really want it for OBO! He’s the realest friend I’ve had in a while; he stood by me during my hardest times,” Omah Lay wrote.
Davido, who has previously received multiple Grammy nominations without a win, was later seen celebrating the joint nod in a viral clip, dancing to their hit track with his usual infectious energy.
With the 2026 Grammys promising a night of music excellence, style, and spectacle, fans are already rallying behind the duo, hoping that this collaboration finally brings home the coveted golden gramophone for both stars.
