As voting draws to a close across polling units in Anambra State, officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have begun moving election materials to designated collation centres.

When THISDAY visited the INEC headquarters in Awka, vehicles conveying sensitive materials were seen departing in a convoy, marking the transition from the voting stage to the collation phase of the governorship election.

According to INEC officials, vote counting will commence immediately after the close of polls, while logistics and security teams have been mobilised to ensure the safe movement of result sheets and other materials to the ward and local government collation centres.

Domestic and international observers have commended the generally peaceful and transparent conduct of the election, describing the process as orderly and credible.

INEC has meanwhile appealed to political parties, candidates, and their agents to remain calm and allow the collation process to proceed without disruption, reiterating its commitment to delivering a transparent and credible outcome.
