LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)-The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed that voting in Ihiala, Ogbaru, and Ayamelum Local Government Areas was peaceful during Saturday’s governorship election.
In a statement issued in Awka, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said security operatives maintained strong and coordinated presence across polling units, ensuring a calm and orderly exercise.
“The Anambra State Police Command reports that the governorship election is going on peacefully in Ihiala, Ogbaru, Ayamelum LGAs and other parts of the state, with strong and coordinated security presence in the areas,” Ikenga stated.

He added that joint teams of police officers and personnel from other security agencies were deployed across polling centres, collation zones, and waterways, while border communities were adequately manned to prevent disruptions and boost voter confidence.
Ikenga assured residents and political actors of the Command’s strict neutrality and commitment to protecting the integrity of the electoral process, urging the public to remain peaceful and obey lawful directives from security personnel.
