LAGOS, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The All Progressives Congress (APC) has recorded an unexpected victory at the polling unit of former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, as early results from Amatutu village in Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area, trickle in.
At Polling Unit 019, Umudimakasi, where Obi cast his vote, the APC secured 73 votes, defeating the Labour Party, which polled 57. The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) came third with 38 votes, while YPP, ZLP, APM, ADC, and AAC recorded one vote each.
The result marks a surprise upset, considering Obi’s strong political influence in Agulu and Anaocha, areas long regarded as Labour and APGA strongholds.

Analysts note that the APC’s improved performance may not be unconnected to the influence of its governorship running mate, Senator Uche Ekwunife, who hails from the area.
Further results from Amatutu show APC maintaining its lead. At Polling Unit 015, located at Amatutu Village Hall, APC won with 117 votes, ahead of APGA’s 29 and LP’s 10. Similarly, at Polling Unit 023, situated at the Model Primary Health Centre, APC polled 25 votes, while APGA and LP followed with 8 and 7 votes respectively.
The consistent trend across the three polling units suggests the APC may be making inroads in parts of Anaocha, traditionally considered a strong base for APGA and LP.
Collation of results is still ongoing across the local government area and the state.
