LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nigerian rapper Zlatan Ibile has sparked online conversation after calling out the Nigerian government for failing to address the nation’s deepening economic crisis.
In a candid chat with Madame Joyce in the UK, the “Zanku” crooner lamented that hardship has become a way of life for many Nigerians, accusing authorities of normalizing citizens suffering through inaction.
“We are used to it, suffering and smiling. That’s how it has always been, and the government isn’t doing anything about it,” Zlatan said, expressing frustration over the worsening living conditions.

The rapper’s remarks came while reacting to British rapper Dave’s viral satire highlighting Nigeria’s stark inequality, flashy clubbers inside versus struggling beggars outside.
Zlatan noted that while the government’s failure fuels poverty, some beggars have also turned street soliciting into a full-time career, relying on daily handouts from well-meaning Nigerians.
He further criticized what he described as an “annoying sense of entitlement” among certain beggars, urging them to embrace self-reliance and pursue “productive, dignified ventures” instead of depending solely on alms.
