LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Lagos nightlife took an unexpected twist this week as popular socialite and club owner Mike Nwalie, famously known as Pretty Mike, was granted ₦50 million bail by a Federal High Court in Lagos following his arraignment on alleged drug-related offences.
Pretty Mike, the controversial owner of Proxy Lagos Night Club, was charged alongside his club’s supervisor, Joachim Hillary, in a case filed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
The duo appeared before Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa on a three-count charge of conspiracy, unlawful possession, and permitting the use of the club for illicit drug activities.

According to the prosecution, the alleged offences took place around October 26, 2025, at the nightclub located on Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island.
NDLEA counsel, Buhari Abdullahi, told the court that agents recovered 200 grams of Cannabis Sativa and 177 cylinders of Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) weighing a combined 364.662 kilograms during a raid at the venue.
While Hillary was accused of directly possessing cannabis, Pretty Mike was alleged to have allowed his club to serve as a hub for a drug party. Both men, however, pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Defence counsel, Dr. B.S. Awosika (SAN), urged the court to grant bail on lenient terms, arguing that the accused had no prior criminal history and would appear for trial. The prosecution opposed, insisting that bail should be denied pending an accelerated hearing.
In a ruling that sparked relief among supporters, Justice Lewis-Allagoa held that the defendants were presumed innocent until proven guilty, granting bail in the sum of ₦50 million each, with two sureties in like sum. The court further ordered that the sureties swear to an affidavit of means before the defendants could be released.
Pretty Mike and Hillary were temporarily released to their counsel as they worked to meet the bail conditions. The court adjourned the case to January 14, 2026, for the commencement of trial.
