LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)-Nollywood star Regina Daniels has made an emotional appeal to Nigerians to stop attacking her mother, Rita Daniels, amid her ongoing marital crisis with billionaire politician Senator Ned Nwoko.
In a heartfelt Instagram video, the actress broke her silence on the controversies surrounding her marriage, setting the record straight about her relationship, her family, and her mental health struggles.
Regina began her message by defending her mother, describing her as her “greatest strength and protector,” while expressing deep pain over the constant public insults directed at her.
“Please, stop insulting my mom. She’s the best thing that ever happened to me, my god on earth. She’s been strong for seven years, holding everything together despite all the hate,” she said tearfully.
The actress dismissed long-standing claims that she married Nwoko out of greed or under her mother’s influence. According to Regina, her decision to marry the senator was entirely her own, even against her family’s wishes.

“We were not broke. No one paid my mother to marry me off. I chose Ned because I loved him,” she clarified.
In a shocking revelation, Regina disclosed that the backlash and pressure surrounding her family’s disapproval of her marriage once drove her to the edge of suicide.
“I was going to kill myself if I didn’t marry Ned. My family didn’t want it, but I was determined. I went to the police station and begged them to arrest me because my family doesn’t want me to marry the love of my life,” she recounted.
Despite the turmoil in their relationship, Regina maintained that she still respects her estranged husband for the sake of their two sons, Munir and Khalifa.
“I actually did fall in love, and I still care and respect him. The only reason I’m not fighting Ned is because I want my children’s father’s name to remain strong,” she stated.
Addressing fresh allegations of drug abuse, the actress labeled them as false narratives allegedly pushed by Nwoko’s camp, while vowing to fight for full custody of her children.
“I will raise them with or without your support,” she declared.
