LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)-Grammy-winning Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy has revealed that his electrifying collaboration with rock icon Mick Jagger began with an unexpected source, Naomi Campbell’s spontaneous idea that turned into music history.
During his recent sit-down on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Burna Boy opened up about the unlikely partnership, crediting the British supermodel for orchestrating what he called one of the most memorable moments of his career.
“She made it happen. At first, I didn’t take her seriously, but before I knew it, I was talking to Mick Jagger and it felt like we’d known each other forever,” Burna Boy said with a laugh.
Describing Campbell’s ideas as “random” yet visionary, Burna Boy added that the collaboration exceeded every expectation. The result, “Empty Chairs,” merges the pulsating energy of Afrobeats with classic rock’s timeless grit.

The genre-bending fusion has become a standout track on his latest album, No Sign of Weakness, released July 11, 2025.
Speaking about the album’s inspiration, Burna Boy explained the title reflects resilience during a time the world expected him to falter.
“It was a time everyone thought I’d show weakness, I did the opposite,” he said.
That same defiant spirit has fueled his artistic evolution since African Giant in 2019, an album born after Coachella organizers printed his name in small font, a slight he didn’t like and turned into a rallying cry for global recognition.
With No Sign of Weakness and his cross-genre collaboration with Mick Jagger, Burna Boy’s fearless creativity continues to transform casual conversations into musical milestones, reaffirming his place at the crossroads of Afrobeats and global sound.
