ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, has directed air component commanders engaged in ongoing military operations across the country to step up the intensity of their strikes against terrorists and other criminal elements threatening national security.
Aneke gave the directive during a high-level strategic meeting with air component commanders from all operational theatres at the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Headquarters, Abuja.
According to a statement by the NAF, the meeting was convened under the new leadership’s directive and focused on recalibrating operational strategies to deliver “smarter, harder, and more decisive” precision air operations. It also aimed at strengthening inter-service synergy to achieve enhanced national security outcomes.
Addressing the senior officers, the CAS underscored the importance of “agility, precision, and intelligence-driven warfare” in effectively countering the country’s evolving security threats.
“We must fly smarter and strike harder; every mission must reflect professionalism, purpose, and patriotism,” Air Marshal Aneke declared.

He further stressed the need for synchronisation between intelligence-led air, land, and maritime operations to ensure joint mission success, noting that the NAF would continue to work closely with sister services and other security agencies for unified operational effectiveness.
Aneke reaffirmed his commitment to improving personnel welfare, promoting innovation, and sustaining continuous training, assuring that airmen and airwomen would be equipped with the tools and skills necessary for mission success.
He also reiterated that the NAF remains dedicated to supporting the Federal Government’s vision for peace and stability while adhering to international standards of discipline and accountability.
“The safety and confidence of our citizens are our mission success indicators. Nigeria is counting on us, and we will not fail,” he added.
The air chief’s directive comes amid heightened global attention on Nigeria’s security situation following recent comments by United States President Donald Trump, who alleged that Christians in the country were facing “mass slaughter” and designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern (CPC).”
Trump had also threatened to deploy American troops to Nigeria, claiming the United States “cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening.”
In response, the Federal Government dismissed Trump’s claims and urged the U.S. government to approach Nigeria’s complex security realities with understanding and constructive engagement.
