ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Rector of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, Prof Gozie Ogbodo, has commended Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah on his strategic interventions and unwavering support to the institution, describing him as instrumental in the institution’s resurgence.
He stated this while recounting the remarkable achievements recorded under his administration in the past one year, describing the period as one of transformation, innovation, and renewed commitment to excellence.
Speaking during a ceremony marking his one year in office, which also featured the commissioning of projects across the institution, Prof Ogbodo expressed gratitude to God and the IMT community for their collective effort and faith in the vision of the new IMT.
He said the journey so far had been guided by a clear mission to strengthen the foundations of academic excellence, promote innovation, enhance staff and students’ welfare, and reposition IMT as a model of integrity and productivity in the tertiary education sector in line with the state’s agenda.
According to him, IMT Enugu recorded a one hundred percent success rate in the recent accreditation, re-accreditation, and resource verification exercise conducted by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), describing it as “a testament to collective commitment, resilience, and excellence.”
Prof Ogbodo attributed the achievement to the dedication of staff, the cooperation of students, and the consistent support from the Government of Enugu State.
He paid special tribute to governor Mbah, whom he described as the pillar of IMT’s transformation and a visionary leader whose education reforms have redefined learning and governance standards in the state.
“We owe deep gratitude to His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, whose reforms and commitment to education have given IMT the strength and confidence to excel. The governor’s vision for a knowledge-driven economy continues to inspire our progress and results,” the Rector said.
He further highlighted notable strides in infrastructure development, including the renovation of classrooms, laboratories, and administrative blocks to create a more conducive environment for learning and research.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the policy of ‘One Diploma, One Skill’, designed to ensure that every student graduates with both an academic qualification and a vocational skill, thereby curbing unemployment and promoting entrepreneurship.

As part of efforts to ensure financial sustainability, Prof Ogbodo announced the establishment of IMT Enterprises Limited, an initiative aimed at boosting the school’s internally generated revenue.
Under the scheme, he noted that IMT has successfully launched several products and services, including IMT Bread, IMT Water, IMT Tissue, as well as the commercialization of the IMT Water Tanker and Tractors.
Prof Ogbodo described the ventures as learning laboratories where students can translate theory into practice and gain real-life production experience.
While commending the management team, staff, and students for their dedication to the institute’s progress, noting that their collective effort had made IMT a model of discipline, innovation, and academic excellence, the Rector pledged that the next phase of his administration would focus on consolidation, deeper research integration, technology advancement, and aesthetic transformation of the campus.
“The new IMT will not only be known for academic excellence but also for its aesthetic and environmental beauty,” he said, adding “We shall make our environment speak with artworks, clean surroundings, green spaces, and structures that inspire learning and pride.”
He urged all members of the IMT community to embrace a renewed spirit of integrity, commitment, and shared purpose, adding that the vision of a truly new IMT would only be realized through unity and discipline.
“Together, we will build an IMT that shines not just in accreditation results but in culture, conduct, and character a truly new IMT: beautiful, purposeful, and progressive,” he concluded.
The event was rounded off with the commissioning of newly completed and renovated facilities across the campus, which the Rector said symbolized IMT’s new era of excellence and sustainability under his leadership.
