ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Senate has confirmed Professor Joash Amupitan as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Amupitan, a professor of Law, was confirmed by the upper legislative chamber after a rigorous screening session on Thursday.

The confirmation followed more than two hours of questioning by senators, who engaged him extensively on how he intends to restore credibility to Nigeria’s electoral process and implement meaningful reforms within the commission.
