ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- A former governor of Enugu State, Sullivan Chime, has commended Governor Peter Mbah for his recent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the move as a strategic political realignment rather than an act of betrayal.
Chime made the remark on his official social media page while reacting to the defection of Mbah and several other political leaders and appointees in Enugu on Tuesday.
According to the former governor, “Political realignment is not betrayal; it is the courage to follow vision when old paths can no longer carry the dream.”

Chime had also defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC shortly after completing his second term as Enugu State governor in 2016.
At the time of his defection, he had described the PDP as a “dead party,” citing the deepening leadership crisis within the party as his reason for leaving.
The VONa reports that the immediate past governor of Enugu State, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, also joined the APC, alongside other key political figures in the state.
Among those who defected were members of the National and State Assemblies, former PDP executives, local government chairmen, and several members of the State Executive Council.
Their defection marks a significant political shift in Enugu, signaling what many analysts see as a broader realignment of political forces in the South-East region.
