ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The internal crisis rocking the Labour Party (LP) has reignited following the appearance of the party’s former National Chairman, Barrister Julius Abure, and the factional National Secretary, Umar Farouk Ibrahim, at the quarterly consultative meeting between political parties and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja.
A photograph showing the duo attending the meeting as Labour Party leaders circulated online on Tuesday. It was released by the faction’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, who shared the images in Abuja.

The meeting, which is held periodically, serves as a regular interface between the election management body and recognised chairmen and secretaries of political parties, to discuss electoral processes, logistics, and collaboration.
Vanguard reports that it was not clear whether the Senators Nenadi Usman and Darlington Nwochocha-led Interim National Committee of the party was also present at the INEC meeting.
The development has once again highlighted the lingering leadership tussle within the Labour Party, which has for months been divided by multiple factions claiming legitimacy over its national leadership structure.
