LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Nigerian comedian Lasisi Elenu has broken his silence after a viral post mistakenly identified him as a Cameroonian drummer, sparking confusion and laughter across social media.
The drama began on X social, where a user shared a side-by-side photo collage comparing Lasisi to a viral Cameroonian drummer. The tweet, captioned as a motivational “before and after” transformation, implied the drummer was Lasisi before he rose to fame.
The misleading post quickly gained traction, racking up shares and comments as users tagged Lasisi relentlessly. In response, the popular skit maker didn’t hold back, dropping a hilariously heated reaction that only fueled the buzz.
“Maaaaaaaa no just catch your papa, maaaa no jus,” Lasisi tweeted, complete with angry emojis, expressing his frustration over the mix-up.
The man in the viral comparison turned out to be Ela Oyono Mathieu, a talented Cameroonian drummer who recently caught attention for his high-energy performances and animated drumming style.

A separate post described him as “Cameroon’s best animator, currently going viral for his amazing drumming skills and style.”
While the resemblance may have fooled some, fans were quick to defend Lasisi, noting the clear differences between the two personalities. Still, the unexpected comparison gave both men a boost in visibility, Lasisi for his comedy, and Ela for his musical flair.
