LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Popular Nigerian content creator, Asherkine, has announced that he is stepping away from producing binge-eating videos following a personal health challenge that forced him to reassess his lifestyle choices.
Asherkine, who gained massive popularity for his eye-catching food challenge videos — often involving the consumption of unusually large quantities of food in one sitting — revealed that his decision came after a health scare linked to his eating habits.
The creator, known for his humorous and energetic presentation style, said the experience prompted him to prioritise his well-being over viral fame.
In a candid post on X social, the media personality shared that the real reason he stepped away from producing binge-eating content came as a result of a downward spiral into gluttony, physical health issues, and mental exhaustion.
“I lost the concept of moderation as mindless binge eating became the order of the day, even when I wasn’t creating content. I wouldn’t stop eating until I started to feel abdominal discomfort,” Asherkine confessed.
Despite maintaining an active lifestyle at the time, Asherkine revealed that his eating habits led to alarming symptoms including heart palpitations, weight gain, constant fatigue, high blood pressure, and disrupted sleep patterns.

The physical strain eventually pushed him to stop. Even more intense was the mental toll.
“The battle to beat gluttony is probably the hardest thing to deal with. It’s mad underrated,” he wrote, describing the experience as both humbling and sobering.
Though he’s stepping back from extreme food challenges, Asherkine clarified that he’s not leaving food content altogether, but it will be served in moderation going forward.
“I’ll still make food content but definitely not in such volume,” he assured fans.
Asherkine also gave a heartfelt shoutout to those silently struggling with compulsive eating disorder, urging followers to take their mental and physical health seriously, even if it means stepping away from the spotlight.
