LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- With his latest project ‘FUJI’, Adekunle Gold is flipping the script on album rollouts, and he made a bold move to keep all featured artists a mystery because he wants fans to reconnect with the music, not just chase big names.
In a recent interview on Cool FM, the hitmaker explained his decision to hide the featured artists on his new album. According to Adekunle Gold, today’s music listeners are too fixated on collaborations and hype, often ignoring the core of what truly matters, the music itself.
“The only thing that mattered was the music, the song, not the optics of it, not who’s on it,” he said.

The singer shared that this approach was a throwback to simpler times, referencing his debut album which had only one feature. That minimalist strategy, he noted, resulted in one of his most critically acclaimed projects.
“When I made my first album, I had only one feature. And was it one of my greatest works? Yes. So I’m like, I need to go back to when what mattered to me was the music, not who’s on it,” he added.

Adekunle Gold also encouraged fans to listen to ‘FUJI’ from start to finish without skipping tracks, stressing that the album was crafted as a complete sonic journey.
“I hid the features intentionally because I want people to enjoy the music. Do all the guesswork you want, but focus on the sound,” he said.
Adekunle Gold is inviting fans to experience music the way it’s meant to be, pure, immersive, and free from distractions.
