ABUJA, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA) – Nigeria and China are set to strengthen their trade and economic partnership through the 2025 edition of the China Commodities Expo-Nigeria, which will take place in Lagos from Wednesday, November 5, to Friday, November 7, 2025, according to the organisers.
The annual event is jointly organised by the Trade Development Bureau of China’s Ministry of Commerce and Brightway International Exhibition, with support from several Chinese provinces, the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria, and the Nigerian federal and state governments.
This year’s edition will feature over 250 Chinese manufacturers and attract more than 5,000 business participants.
Chief Representative Officer of Brightway International Exhibition, Muheez Ojulari, described the Expo as a key platform for advancing economic cooperation across various industries.
“This Expo matters because it gives Nigerian firms direct visibility in front of Chinese manufacturers who control global supply chains. It’s a chance to negotiate better terms, secure financing, and diversify our exports,” he said.
The exhibition will showcase a wide range of products, including automobiles, motorcycles and spare parts, machine tools, food processing and packaging equipment, fashion, textiles and beauty products, construction materials, agricultural machinery, electrical and electronic products, medical devices, home appliances, household goods, and power and renewable energy solutions.

CCE will offer free entry and provide fully equipped B2B meeting rooms to encourage direct interactions between Nigerian companies and Chinese manufacturers.
This will enable participants to explore trade opportunities, enter new markets, and connect with venture capital for innovative business ideas.
The event has received backing from several Nigerian business associations and chambers of commerce, such as the Auto Spare Parts and Machinery Dealers Association, National Automotive and Technical Association, Motor Mechanics and Technicians Association of Nigeria, Computer and Allied Product Dealers Association of Nigeria, Building Materials Association of Nigeria, Sokoto Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, SMEDAN, Association of Small Business Owners of Nigeria, National Association of Small Scale Industrialists, Ogun State Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the National Coffee and Tea Association of Nigeria, among others.
Targeting a broad audience including importers, exporters, business leaders, government officials, entrepreneurs, and graduates the Expo aims to expand business networks, build strategic partnerships with top Chinese manufacturers, diversify businesses, attract foreign investment, and enhance living standards while contributing to economic development.
Since its launch in 2007, the China Commodities Expo has grown to become one of Nigeria’s most prominent trade events. The 2025 edition comes at a time of rapidly expanding trade relations between both countries.
Chinese customs data shows bilateral trade reached $23.9bn in 2022, comprising $22.3bn in Chinese exports to Nigeria and $1.6bn in imports from Nigeria.
Trade between January and July 2025 stood at $15.483bn, a 34.7 per cent increase year-on-year, making Nigeria China’s second-largest trading partner in Africa.
Beyond commerce, the Expo seeks to attract foreign investment and venture capital to boost entrepreneurship and job creation among Nigerian youths.
China’s investments in Nigeria have surpassed $1.5bn in projects such as the Lekki and Ogun-Guangdong Free Trade Zones, generating over 7,000 jobs.
Mr. Ojulari noted that the Expo plays an important role in advancing China–Africa economic cooperation, promoting technology transfer, and deepening mutually beneficial ties.
Through increased trade, investment, technology exchange, and entrepreneurial development, the 2025 China Commodities Expo is expected to significantly drive economic growth, create jobs, raise living standards, and reduce poverty in both Nigeria and China.
