LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- In a strategic move to strengthen his cabinet, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, has nominated three prominent figures with deep political and administrative experience as commissioner-designates.
The announcement signals a renewed push for reform-minded governance ahead of key legislative and policy milestones.
The nominations, disclosed on Friday in a statement by Secretary to the State Government Umar Musa Ikhilor, state that the names of the nominees which include Elizabeth Ebosele, Christopher Ewere Okaeben, and Festus Odianosen Ebea, have been forwarded to the Edo State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
The statement highlights Elizabeth Ebosele’s skill as a development economist and public policy expert, bringing extensive experience in budgeting and national planning. Having served as a technical adviser at the federal level and as a member of the national Medium-Term Development Plan (2021–2025) working group, where she focused on employment, gender, and special needs, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to inclusive and sustainable development.

Next on the list is Christopher Okaeben, a seasoned public servant and former lawmaker, whose portfolio includes roles as commissioner for youth and sports, executive director of the Edo State Petroleum Monitoring Committee, and senior special assistant on youth employment. As a two-term representative for Oredo West in the State Assembly (2015–2023), he chaired influential committees on health, energy, and women’s affairs.
Lastly, former deputy speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Festus Ebea, is widely recognized for his grassroots influence and legislative leadership. Representing Esan South East, he played a key role in local development and democratic engagement.
Notably, Governor Okpebholo’s latest nominations underscore a deliberate shift toward experienced, reform-driven leadership as Edo prepares for a new phase of political and economic transformation.
If confirmed, the commissioner-designates are expected to bring both technical competence and political depth to the administration’s evolving agenda.
