ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has given reasons for backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies and re-election in 2027, while Senator Aliyu Wadada (SDP of Nasarawa West) declared that no one can unseat the President in the next general election.
Speaking separately to reporters after meeting Tinubu at the Aso Villa yesterday, both leaders reaffirmed their support for the President, Nation reports.
Soludo, who is seeking re-election in November under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), said his relationship with Tinubu spans two decades.
Wearing a fez cap emblazoned with Tinubu’s broken chain logo alongside photographs of both men a sign of political solidarity Soludo stated:
“I don’t have any apologies about it. President Tinubu is my friend. Has been my friend for 20 years now and counting. You don’t deny your friend and begin to quiver about who he is.
“I support him, and I’m impressed by the bold steps he has taken, particularly in the areas of the economy and structural reforms. I have said so several times we’re taking the right steps, we only need to stay the course.”
The former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor urged political parties with progressive ideologies to form a broad coalition to strengthen Nigeria’s democracy and advance socio-economic development.
He recalled that his call for “progressives working together” began when Tinubu visited Anambra State to inaugurate projects, during which campaign materials promoting cooperation were displayed.
On security in Anambra, Soludo said his administration was implementing a “holistic” approach, combining kinetic force with non-kinetic measures. He cited the enactment of the Anambra State Homeland Security Law in January as pivotal in weakening criminal networks.
“All the deadly native doctors are on the run from the state because these are the guys giving false hope, deceiving our young ones and luring them into criminality,” he said.

He added that youth empowerment and targeted social programmes form the core of the state’s non-kinetic strategy. Over the past year, 5,000 youths have been trained and empowered, and another 8,700 will receive financial support worth several billions of naira within the next two months.
“We’re creating several thousand youth millionaires right away within the first three years. This is cascading all over the state… beyond fixing our schools and health facilities,” Soludo said.
Senator Wadada, chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Accounts, asserted that no opposition candidate or party particularly the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has the capacity to defeat Tinubu in 2027.
“Between now and 2031, anybody can say what he or she wishes to say, but the space is already taken, occupied by President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Look at every one of the leaders, tell me, I haven’t seen any.”
He lauded Tinubu’s “transformative agenda” and highlighted major projects like the Sokoto–Badagry and Abuja–Kano roads as proof of the President’s commitment to development, especially in the North. Wadada challenged opposition leaders to present credible alternatives on fuel subsidy, foreign exchange management, and infrastructure.
Although still a member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Wadada said he remains APC “in spirit.”
“I could even say that I am APC, though I have not officially moved, but I am APC. SDP hasn’t offended me, but the happenings now may not warrant my continued stay. Dynamism of life makes it imperative for everything in life to be dynamic.”
Tracing his political journey from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where he served as national financial secretary, to early involvement in APC before its formation, Wadada described PDP as “one of the ingredients put in the pot to cook APC.”
