ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) has announced the shortlist of 72 lawyers for possible elevation to the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
In a public notice signed by the Committee’s Secretary, Mr. Kabir Akanbi, the LPPC revealed that 57 of the shortlisted candidates fall under the “advocates” category, while the remaining 15 are from the “academics” category.
The Committee has called on members of the public to submit comments on the integrity, competence, and reputation of the listed applicants.
It emphasized that such comments must be supported with a verifying affidavit sworn before a superior court of record in Nigeria or before a Notary Public, and must be submitted in 20 copies.
“Twenty (20) copies of such comments or complaints must be received at the office of the Secretary, Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee, not later than 4.00 pm on Monday, 14th July, 2025, or by email to: Ippesecretariat@courts.gov.ng](mailto:Ippesecretariat@courts.gov.ng or Enquiries.ippesecretariat@supremecourt.gov.ng](mailto:Enquiries.ippesecretariat@supremecourt.gov.ng,” the LPPC stated.
It also clarified: “For the avoidance of doubt, the publication of the names of the shortlisted applicants is not an indication of their success in the process.”

The applicants, listed in order of seniority at the Bar, include: Theophilus Esan Kolawole, Fedude Zimughan, Ernest Chik Wendu Ikeji, Victor Esiri Akpoguma, Leslie Akujuobi Njemanze, Akintola Wilson Adewale, Preye Agedah, Omamuzo Erebe, Hannibal Egbe Uwaifo, Olumide Ekisola, George Ejie Ukaegbu, Oromena Justice Ajakpovi, Tairu Adebayo, Bawaakhimie Osali Ibrahim, Suleh Umar, Emeka Akabogu, Godwin Sunday Ogboji, Godwin Aimuagbonrie Idiagbonya, Adeolu Olusegun Salako, Adetunji Oso, Achinike Godwin William-Wobodo, Shuaib Agbarere Mustapha, Adizua Chu-chu Okoroafor, Olanrewaju Tasleem Akinsola and Amaechi Fidelis Iteshi.

The LPPC reiterated that inclusion on the shortlist is not a guarantee of conferment, as further screening and assessments will follow based on public input and internal evaluations.
