ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Former Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, has responded to President Bola Tinubu’s remarks on the persistent crisis within opposition parties in Nigeria.
Speaking during his Democracy Day address on Thursday, President Tinubu mocked the opposition, stating that he took pleasure in seeing them “in disarray.”
“For me, I will not say, try your best to put your house in order. I will not help you to do so, either,” Tinubu declared during his speech, making it clear that he would not assist opposition parties in resolving their internal issues.
The President also dismissed allegations that his administration was attempting to establish a one-party state following the defection of several opposition figures to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Reacting to Tinubu’s comments, Saraki, who spoke to journalists after attending the Democracy Day ceremony at the National Assembly, acknowledged that his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is indeed facing internal challenges.
According to Vanguard, he called on members of the PDP and other opposition groups to work towards resolving their internal disputes.
“I think we must take him at his words. I mean, he spoke well, saying that he’s not for a one-party state. So we must take him at his word, and he supports a multi-party. So we are all on the same page,” Saraki stated.
“That’s why we are going around and bringing everybody to come around. So those who say they are under pressure, there is no pressure anymore.
“So, we’re all for multi party, and everybody should get their house in order, as he said, he’s not going to help us, so we are going to sort our own house again,” he added.
