LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)-Popular Nollywood actress Biola Bayo has opened up about her decision to publicly announce her separation from husband Oluseyi, a move that stirred mixed reactions online due to its timing.
The actress made headlines last week after revealing her marital split in a social media post dedicated to Oluseyi on his birthday.
The revelation, which came four years into their marriage, sparked backlash from fans and critics alike, with many accusing her of trying to expose her husband to public ridicule on his special day.
Amid the criticism, Biola Bayo spoke out during the recent presentation of a house to fellow actress Jumoke George, addressing the controversy and clarifying her intentions.

“Please, I’m human too. I made that announcement because I didn’t want someone else to go online and tell my story for me. That’s my style, I believe in saying my truth before others twist it into something hurtful,” she said, visibly emotional.
Biola explained that people had already started questioning why she no longer posted her husband online, and she anticipated that rumors would begin to circulate.
To stay ahead of the narrative, she decided to confirm the separation herself, but not without informing her husband first.
“I had already told my husband I would post about it. He was aware. I didn’t mean to hurt anyone. But even after that, people still used it against me. Still, I know God will reward everyone accordingly,” she clarified.
Biola Bayo, known for her candidness, made headlines in 2023 when she revealed that she and Oluseyi welcomed their son through surrogacy. Her decision to publicly share her journey was to encourage others facing similar fertility struggles.
