OGUN, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Leroy Sané is set to leave Bayern Munich and embark on a new chapter with Galatasaray.
After a season of unsuccessful contract negotiations with the Bundesliga champions, the German international will depart on a free transfer this summer.
Bild reports that Sané declined Bayern’s offer of a three-year contract extension, which included reduced terms.
Sané joined Bayern in 2020 from Manchester City for €49m and he’s won four Bundesliga titles across his five years in Germany. The 29-year-old has scored 61 games and provided 55 assists across 220 games appearances for the Bavarian but he’s played his last game for the club. Galatasaray have presented Sané with an ambitious project and he’s now agreed a move to Istanbul with an announcement expected soon.
It’s been widely reported that Sané will sign a three-year contract with Galatasaray until 2028. It’s understood that the Super Lig champions will pay the talented winger around €10 million net per annum as they aim to make an impression in the Champions League next summer. With a market value of €32m, Sané will become Galatasaray’s most valuable player – and the most valuable Super Lig player – with Victor Osimhen (€70m) returning to Napoli from his loan spell.

Sané had an offer from Saudi Pro League and Arsenal also enquired about his availability but Galatasaray have won the race.
On his impending exit from Bayern Munich, Thomas Deterding, Transfermarkt’s Bundesliga expert, said: “Shortly before the end of the season, everything seemed to point to an imminent agreement between Sané and Bayern. But to everyone’s surprise, the attacker then announced a change of his agents from 11Wins to Pina Zahavi, and the previously negotiated terms of a new three-year contract became obsolete.
The latter reportedly included a lower base salary for Sané. A three-year contract with a gross salary reduction to €10 million plus €5 million in potential bonuses per season was discussed.”
Deterding continued: “The Bayern executives, including sporting director Max Eberl, had publicly confirmed several times that they were not willing to extend their offer any further. Thus, the contract offer was not increased during the new negotiations, but only the salary was marginally adjusted.
Sané was reportedly set to receive €12 million in fixed fees plus €3.5 million in bonuses, apparently too little for the German international to sign.
Galatasaray is reportedly offering €10 million net per year. After advanced talks, all they need is Sané’s signature.”
