ENUGU, Nigeria (VOICE OF NAIJA)- Senator representing Kogi Central in the National Assembly, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has firmly disowned a viral audio clip circulating on social media, which falsely attributes comments about key national figures to her.
In a statement, the senator denounced the audio as completely fabricated, asserting that the voice in the recording was not hers but a cloned imitation designed to mislead the public and incite division.
She said, “My attention has been drawn to a video currently trending online purporting to feature me in a conversation with a journalist.
“I categorically and unequivocally dissociate myself from the said video and audio recording. At no time did I grant such an interview or engage in such a conversation. The voice is not mine, it has clearly been cloned with malicious intent.”
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan revealed that this is not the first time her identity has been manipulated using digital tools. She cited previous incidents in which edited audio clips falsely portrayed her in conversations with public figures.

“This is part of a disturbing pattern. There have been similar recordings in the past, none of which were authentic,” she said.
The senator further alleged that unidentified persons may have gained access to her communications and used voice cloning technology to place deceptive calls to notable individuals, giving the false impression that the calls originated from her.
She identified some of the individuals allegedly contacted through this cyber impersonation as Hon. Emmanuel Ekon, Dr. Tunji Alausa, Chief Allen Onyema, and Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, stating unequivocally that she had no part in any of those conversations.
Describing the trend as both criminal and dangerous, Akpoti-Uduaghan warned that it poses a grave risk to privacy, national security, and democratic discourse.
“This is an orchestrated attempt to manipulate public perception and silence legitimate voices in our democracy. It is not just mischievous it is a serious threat to national cohesion and security”, she said.
She urged the public to disregard the circulating audio and confirmed that both her legal and security teams are investigating the matter in order to trace and prosecute those responsible.
“I remain firmly committed to truth, justice, and responsible democratic engagement. I urge Nigerians to be vigilant and resist the spread of disinformation, especially as technology continues to evolve”, she added.
