LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)- Reality TV personality Queen Mercy Atang has addressed the online buzz surrounding her decision to unfollow her husband, David Oyekanmi, and delete their wedding photos from Instagram.
In a candid video shared with fans, Queen clarified that the move was not due to marital trouble but a conscious choice to “protect her relationship from public scrutiny”.
According to her, the couple chose to step back from social media to avoid distractions and unsolicited messages, particularly those sent to her husband.
“I was just trying to take my relationship off social media. Because my husband’s account is out there, a lot of girls feel the need to slide in his DMs to say both positive and negative things,” she explained.

Queen said her decision was inspired by other celebrities who choose to “shield their marriages from public attention”, hoping that privacy would strengthen her union rather than feed speculation.
While the move initially sparked rumors of a marital rift, she later restored her wedding photos and reinstated her husband’s name in her Instagram bio, putting fans at ease.
Queen Mercy Atang and David Oyekanmi tied the knot in March 2024, and the social media cleanup in October 2024 drew widespread attention from followers and gossip blogs alike.
However, with her latest explanation, Queen aims to shift the narrative, emphasizing love, discretion, and boundaries in the digital age.
