LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)-Stephen Nana, popularly known as Stevenator, has broken his silence on why he parted ways with Afrobeat sensation Asake.
In a candid viral interview circulating on social media, Stevenator, who managed Asake from 2022 to 2024, revealed that the singer’s meteoric rise to fame simply became too overwhelming for him to handle.
Stevenator, a longtime friend of YBNL boss Olamide, credited the music mogul for jumpstarting his career in artist management.
“Olamide called me one day and said he had an artiste he wanted me to manage. That was my first time stepping into management. I had no experience. I had never heard of Asake or listened to his music before,” he admitted.

According to Stevenator, Asake’s rapid ascent left no room for a learning curve as he blew up so quickly, there was hardly time to “figure things out on the job.”
He also confessed that it wasn’t just the professional challenges that influenced his decision to step down as his manager. Stevenator opened up about the personal toll the job took on his family life.
“Sometimes we were on the road for four to five months. I’d be talking to my kids only through the phone. When I asked my family to join me in London, my second son refused to let me carry him, he didn’t recognize me,” he shared emotionally.
In order to create work-family balance, Stevenator said stepping down was necessary for his mental and emotional wellbeing.
”Asake became way too big, and I had to follow him everywhere. Now, I’m focused on being a family man. I love my wife, I love my kids — and they come first,” he concluded.
