LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA) – The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), has issued a strong response to controversial rapper Speed Darlington.
The rapper requested to reschedule a mandated appearance concerning a disturbing statement he made during a recent social media broadcast.
The artist sparked outrage after admitting in an Instagram live session to engaging in inappropriate activity with a 15-year-old girl in a hotel, a claim he later dismissed as a joke.
In response, NAPTIP summoned him for an in-person interview originally scheduled for Friday, May 30, 2025.
However, in a reply shared by the Director of Information and Communications Technology, Hakeem Lawal, via the agency’s official X platform, NAPTIP revealed that Darlington requested a postponement, citing prior commitments and suggesting a new date of June 26, 2025.
“Hello, I will not be able to come in today. This is very sudden and urgent for me. I already have commitments and responsibilities. I suggest you should reschedule to next month, June 26. I will be in Abuja that day,” Darlington said according to the statement.

The agency, however, emphasized the seriousness and urgency of the matter, calling it a “national priority” that could not be delayed.
“The invitation was sent to you on Wednesday, May 28, giving you sufficient time to prepare,” the agency stated. “Moreover, the issue at hand is a matter of urgent national importance that requires an immediate response.”
While refusing to accommodate the artist’s preferred date, NAPTIP has extended a final deadline, directing Darlington to appear in person at its headquarters in Abuja no later than Monday, June 2, 2025, at 1:00 pm.
“The agency cannot work with your proposed schedule. Your cooperation is critical in this matter,” the statement continued.
NAPTIP’s firm stance reflects growing public demand for accountability and swift investigation, particularly in cases involving sensitive allegations and high-profile figures.
