LAGOS, Nigeria(VOICE OF NAIJA)-Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar Burna Boy’s offer to perform a free concert in Burkina Faso has reportedly been turned down by both the people and the country’s president, Ibrahim Traoré.
The development was shared on Instagram by popular Burkinabé blog @Truligram, which reported that although the gesture was appreciated, the West African nation has more pressing concerns.
Burna Boy had initially proposed the idea in a heartfelt social media post, saying, “If possible, it would be an honor for me to give the people of Burkina Faso a free BURNA BOY concert sometime this year, Insha Allah.”

However, according to @Truligram, President Traoré respectfully declined the offer, stating that while he values Burna Boy’s love and support, the country does not need any distractions at the moment.
The sentiment was echoed by many Burkinabés, who reportedly emphasized that their focus is on national stability and standing firmly behind their leader.
“President Ibrahim Traoré said he appreciates the love, but he doesn’t need distractions in Burkina Faso. The people also asked Burna Boy to take the concert elsewhere, saying their priority is protecting their president,” @Truligram reported.
While the response may have surprised fans, many praised both parties for their mutual respect and understanding amid Burkina Faso’s current challenges.
